1.History:

The inventor was  Jim Burton 1983. Sims also got the idea one week later. The first board was only a piece of wood, a skibinding and skiingboots. That was the first snowboard. After one year there were more trade marks on the market. Nidecker, a Swiss trade mark; Crazy Banana, and many more. If you think the snowboard was very popular in 1985 you're wrong. In the first time of snowboarding the skiers watched the snowboarder with a smile on their face and thought: This is a sport which will go away as fast as it came. But they were wrong. In J 992 the sellingnumbers exploded. 1992 500.000 snowboards are sold. 1993 : 700.00 snowboards are sold. More and more kids want to learn snowboarding. It's easy and it's cool they said. '-- Now snowboarding is getting an olympical contest. Now there are other contests:

2. Style:

There are 5 styles:

Slalom .S-Ski

.Freeride

.Freestyle .

Freecarve

Slalom and S-Ski are like in skiing. They are driven with a raceboard. Freecarve means to snowboard with a raceboard in the powder .

Freeride is an own part of snowboarding. There are special boards. Freeriding means to jump in the powder, snowboarding in the powder, do cliffjumps and tricks. Freestyle is another part of snowboarding. It's like a halfpipe in skateboarding. Only with snow. The better your jumps the better is your evaluate. Freestyleboards are the most sold boards. The freestyle scene is also the biggest scene in snowboarding.

3. Dressing:

The dressing is a part for his own. There are so many different gloves, trousers, jackets pullovers and hats. Almost everybody got his own look. Every year the best dressed woman and man get a price. In freestyle many people are wearing the famous Buggypains. There're much to big. Freerider are also the same as freestyler. Funky, Funky, Funky. The Racer are very serious. So  are the freecarver. Normal hat, normal trousers and a nice overall. Here are some trade marks: K2, Vision, Windstopper,Killer Loop, .These are the most famous marks. Some nice Oklay glasses are also not bad.


4. Boards. Bindings. Boots:

A freestyleboard is wide and short.

A freerideboard is not as wide as a freestyleboard and longer .

A raceboard is the thinnest but also the longest board.

There are 2 different kinds of boots: .

The different:


Softb.: It's soft. You can move in it and the distance between the feet is bigger than on the raceboard.


Hardb.: It's hard. You can't move and the distance between the feet is lesser than on the freesty 1 e-/freeri de board.
